I forgot to give you some great news! The Market on the Island reopened today! I had heard it was scheduled to open this weekend and kept my fingers crossed it was true.
They still have a bit of re-stocking left to do, but it's great to have our little island store back in business. Stop by and check it out.

why was it closed ?
Unless you have inside information, it's simply conjecture as to why any business closes.
I know it is tough for many island businesses in the off-season, which we're heading into, and there is now the added weight of property taxes on top of some stiff commercial lease fees. Plus, I heard the automated ice machine had cut traffic into their store, most likely cutting into $'s spent on other things while there to pick up a bag of ice.
I'm sure it's a combination of all the above, and maybe other reasons we aren't privy to, but we surely wanted our Market back. I hope the new management gets the support it needs to stay in business.
