Mysti

We simply can't understand why things happen the way they do sometimes. As quickly as Mysti appeared and won our hearts, she disappeared from our lives.

While my mother was away at the store this morning, dogs attacked Mysti and punctured her lung - among other injuries. She passed away around noon today.

Such a sweet little kitten, gentle and full of personality, which cannot be replaced.

Our hearts are broken.

My deep appreciation to Mike Cruz, a family friend and anesthetist, who went to help my mother and see if he could do anything for Mysti since a vet couldn't be reached.

OMGosh!! I am so sorry to hear this.
I left a comment yesterday as I felt close to your mom's situation. I had not had a cat in over 20 years because of my ex husbands dislike and my daughter had never gotten to experience one. We had a cat, very similar in color, show up on our doorstep one fall. He caught our heartstrings immediately. But in the next week he came to me one morning and I could tell he was not well. The vet thinks he was hit by a car. When he died, my daughter was devastated. A month later my best friend took me to our vet on our lunch break to look at cats. We walked up to one of the kennels that was eye level with me and when the door was opened, the cat walked out and layed down on my shoulder just purring. Needless to say, that cat came home with me! He is my friend and companion to carry on what started with the one we lost.
Hugs to your mom and you!

Thank you, Peggy. It was a real heartbreaker, for sure. Mysti had such a wonderful personality. My mother said she couldn't go through this again, but it was wonderful while she had this special little gift. We're all wishing we had done this or that differently, but it's too late. {{{sigh}}}

So sad. I had a dog that was eaten by a coyote about 12 years ago. Actually, the coyote had my dog in its mouth when it was crossing the freeway, got hit by a car, and the people who hit it found our dog and called us. By the time we got to the vet they'd taken him to, he was gone. =\

They stay in your heart forever, that's for sure! I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Sending up a prayer for your family.

Hi DJ, Wow I am at a loss for words, and that never happens.

I saw the picture of Mysti yesterday and thought what a lovely lovely kitty and how much joy she would bring to your Mom.

Life is stranger than fiction, and I can only hope Mysti went to a better place.

The Dougal who loves kitties, joins me in sending our deepest sympathy to you and your Mom.

Life in Atlanta has been hectic this season and I am looking forward to my escape, two bridges away.

Big Big Hugs

I'm so very sorry, DJ. I hope someone does something about those dogs. They wouldn't want me settling with them....grrrrrr!

D.J. & Mom, I'm so sorry for your loss. How sad she was here for such a short time. I'm glad you have precious photos of her, but so sad when I look at them. I hope Mysti opened up your hearts enough to adopt another kitty. She would want it that way, I'm sure.

How I enjoyed reading about Mysti and seeing the photos and just knew this was a special kitty for your Mom.
How sad I feel for you all to know that a horrible death happened to that pretty cat and how it must sadden and depress your Mom.
It was good that you wrote about her...many have enjoyed your blog and have concern.
That is good.

Stay warm.
