Shore surprises

You just never know what to expect when you patrol the beach in the early morning hours, but this is the first time I've ever discovered a 27" television.

Luckily I caught this balloon bouquet before it entered the water. Balloons are very bad for sea turtles and other marine life and shorebirds, but we frequently see them on the beach marking the spot of weddings and other events. Sadly most people don't know that once they get into the water, they can be ingested by turtles and dolphin who mistake them for jellyfish.

You may read an article about the threat of plastic bags and balloons to sea turtles by clicking HERE and HERE

Amazing, a TV on the beach! Great capture, and retrieval, of the balloons.

Guess I can tell kids it belongs (belonged!) to SpongeBob SquarePants! ;-)

Thank you for the link to wild shores of singapore on the issue of balloons. Marine debris is a heart-breaking issue for us here too.

Alas, it seems those of us who love our shores share the same trials and tribulations.

But at the same time, the oceans do join together our many hearts and hands.

It's awesome to know that many people everywhere, on a sea shore somewhere, are doing exactly what we are doing, to love and protect our shores.

All the best,
Ria.

A TV on the beach? Did you find a dead Ted Danson near it?

Ok, that may be a little obscure for some people. Google "Creepshow Ted Danson."

You're doing a great job DJ. Both on the beach and the web. Keep it up. :-)

Yep, a TV is the very last thing you'd expect on the beach. An Ivan or Dennis relic?????
