Calm afternoon

It is more calm on the east side of Pensacola Beach this afternoon than the rough surf and high tide I saw at Ft. Pickens this morning.
The last report I heard estimates the storm to come ashore between Panama City and Destin sometime this afternoon or early evening. The good news is that the timing coincides with low tide! That's great news for our turtle nests!

A combination of high surf and a 3' - 5' storm surge at high tide (around 6:00 a.m., depending on the area), could wipe out several of our nests.

Hope all is well and Claudette is nothing more than a little rain and thunder! Fingers crossed for the turtle nests.

I visit your blog from time to time. We actually talked about doing our annual girl trip to a spot in Ft. Pickens. My sister lived in Lillian for 15(?)years and said you have the most beautiful beaches. We just love staying on the beach. Your pics are absolutely beautiful and your writings very interesting... thanks for sharing because I would never have such an insight into your passion otherwise.
