Killdeer chicks

Look what's running all around in my yard this week! Tiny Killdeer chicks! The first day I saw them, they were just puffs of fluff atop incredibly long legs which look out of proportion.


Here is mom (or dad). All afternoon I hear the adult killdeer calling out to the chicks and tiny peeps responding.


At last, patience pays! I snapped a photo of one of the chicks with mom (or dad)! See how tiny! It's amazing how fast they move, but they are not old enough to fly yet.
