Osprey at Ft. Pickens

I was excited to finally see an Osprey this week. Actually I saw three of them Sunday morning and for a few minutes I actually forgot about the oil spill and things seemed normal again. It was a good feeling.

Generally I see several Osprey during my Ft. Pickens turtle patrols, gliding high above the Gulf searching for fish or perched of a piece of driftwood finishing off their catch. Though there are probably a dozen nests in the park, they've been absent on the beach lately and I was concerned.

Osprey are sometimes referred to as sea hawks or fish eagles. They are just incredible to watch as they teach the fledglings to fish.

That first photo is just wonderful. I love that you caught both birds.

Thank you for your wonderful blog. Pensacola is my home, but live out of state now. It is nice to see what is happening with the oil spill from someone other then the news.
