When the last round of thunderstorms pass through tonight, they say we're due several days of sunny, warm temps. YEAH!!!

This little guy makes me feel bad about those fried crab claws I had last summer at The Fish House.
I understand, Dilettante, but don't feel too bad. Here's a couple tidbits of info:
1. This is a ghost crab and it's not the type of crab you would have been eating.
2. Ghost crabs eat our endangered sea turtle hatchings! They can either dig down into the nest and prey on them that way, or pull a hatching into a crab hole as it tries to make its way to the Gulf water. We really have to guard against them.
There are many more crabs than our tiny hatchlings. A generous statistic is that only 1 in 10,000 sea turtle hatchlings make it to adulthood, but some experts say many less survive. So while I love the scowling face of ghost crabs, I don't like them messin' with my hatchlings! :-)

Nice close-up of Crabby looking grouchy. I like to watch crabs through binoculars. It's amazing how many are out and about until they hear/see you coming, then they just disappear!
