Hey DJ. So sorry to hear about the passing of Yancy Spencer. I didn't know him. But, I enjoyed his website. Before I took one of my day trips to Pensacola, I definitely would check his website for the surf report. I was planning on coming this Saturday. But, I might try Sunday. His website said they are doing something special for him at Pensacola Beach on Sunday.
Hey, Deb! Yes it was very sad for the whole community. There will be a surfers' memorial for him on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., east of the Pensacola Beach fishing pier.
I have been very sick for over a week with a nasty upper respiratory infection. It's the sickest I've been in years, but I have turned the corner. If it is warm and not too windy on Sunday, and I continue to improve, I really want to attend myself. It will be a sad occasion, but it is a beautiful and moving memorial.
