Time Flies
Time flies and all I have to offer is an old (and rather unusual) photo, which I promise was not Photoshopped!
Some of my blog followers have been concerned about my absence, so I wanted to update you. After the Pensacola Beach Art & Wine Festival, I drove my mother back to Tennessee and spent a few days with her, helping out with projects around the house and yard.
On my return from Tennessee I went straight back to work at night as a Wildlife Observer for the Sand Shark crew. This week I am scheduled for six nights. With the sun setting earlier, our shifts have been changed to 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. In addition to that, all operations were moved to Perdido Key for a week surrounding DeLuna Fest. That added a 45-50 minute drive from my house to Perdido Key/Johnson Beach.
I try to get in bed by 7 a.m., but rarely get to sleep past 1 p.m. Then I have just a little time to eat, make the bed, get some laundry done, and complete a few chores before it is time to go again. I am not complaining at all. I love being on the beach and being part of the clean-up effort. Now as for clean up efforts around my house...... Ha! I may soon need a hazmat suit for that!
I'm not sure how much longer our Wildlife Observer positions will continue, but I plan to be on the beach as long as we are needed. For those of you who follow my blog but live out of state, the Sand Shark just received authorization to dig as deep as 24 inches to remove oil. This is great news for us. Although our beaches look beautiful now, we knew a lot of oil was hiding deeper below the surface and were anxious to have it removed, but now we can proceed with the deep cleaning.
By spring I hope our lives and schedules are back to more normal conditions. 'Til then, please hang in there with me!

Hi DJ..
I knew you were busy.. and that you had gone to Tennessee with your Mom.
Did you have any spare time while there to photograph the foliage?
also, I know you are busy with beach stuff at home..
you can always count on me to be a loyal follower!
warm sandy hugs..
Loui♥
Yes DJ was concerned about you but knew that you were probably up to something good. It is so wonderful to have people like you taking care of paradise. The Froot Loops are looking forward to coming back to a beautiful beach
Cool picture - glad to see you back!
A huge thank you to you and the crews for the clean up. Thanks for the update. I was concerned about the deep oil layers.

Going to bed at 7 a.m. and getting up at 1 p.m., now you're leading my lifestyle! Now you can be a writer and an all-night DJ (the other DJ: disc jockey) just like me.
I just hope you're not getting too much sand in the bed :)
Ha! How did you know about all the sand! Even though I take a shower when I come off one of those 12 hour shifts on the beach, I don't always wash my hair until AFTER I get out of bed later in the day. Amazing how much sand gets blown into this mop of mine and makes it way under the covers. UGH!
Hmmmm...writer and disc jockey, eh. I better find some spare time to work on that.
Love your books, as always. I ordered a new one a couple of months ago and have yet been able to read it, but it's at the top of the stack on my night table! :-)
